Introduction

Hamilton, NJ - Thursday October 25, 2007 - The Honorable Mayor Glen D. Gilmore and the Hamilton Township Economic Development Advisory Commission held the 32nd Annual Distinguished Achievement Awards Dinner honoring Hamilton Businesses: Allies, Inc, Russo Music Center, Jerry Salzano, Maser Consulting, PA as well as ex-Mayor Jack Rafferty.

The Dinner was planned by the charming Sue Ramirez, co-chaired by Marc Fertoukh & John Cimino, and attended and/or sponsored by Businesses such as  Peasants by Revere, Schoor DePalma, LoveHamilton.com, Ridolfi, Yardville National Bank, 130 South American Grill & Sushi, Hamilton Area YMCA, Sovereign Bank, The Bank, Capital Health Systems, Mercadien Consulting, Roma Bank, Sharbell Building Company, Arcadia Nursing, Klatzkin, McMahon Transportation Engineers & Planners, People Papers, Dragonfly Farms, Prior Nami Business Systems, Richardson  Commercial, Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Saul Funeral Homes, The Verde Group, Málaga Restaurant, and much more....

Some of the Businessmen and women who attended were Joseph Hakim, President of Hakim International, Marc Fertoukh, President of Paris Catering, Wassim Farhoud and Geri Jiras, District Manager of "All In One Basket", Vinnie Chawla, Vice Chairman of HTEDAC, Amir Ulislam, President of Jersey Precast Corp, Karen Gibson, Sales 7 Marketing Manager of 130 South American Grill and Sushi, Herbert K. Ames, President & CEO of Devin Group, Inc., Liz Tindall, Vice President of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce, Islam Kotb, Director of IT, Richard Hamilton of Stark & Stark, Jack Blair, President of Nottingham Insurance, Sister Jean Makovsky, Pastoral Associate of the Saint Gregory the Great Parish,

Some of  the political figures and support staff from "both" parties who attended the dinner were Kelly Yaede, John Cimino, John Benecivengo, John Kroschwitz, Kevin Meara, Hal English, LLoyd Jacobs, Loretta, Eileen Thornton, Denise Murphy and the "awesome" Doug Suesseger, Jr.

The "Interesting" Part

One of the most endearing moments of this "unifying" Dinner came when Mayor Gilmore presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to ex-Mayor Jack Rafferty... It was a moment that revealed Glen's true character: "a gentleman who is all heart!"... One could not help but be inspired by Glen's genuine sense of doing what is "right".  Without, for a second, bringing up his re-election campaign or his party affiliation, he went on giving abundant sincere appreciation to a man who is a Hamilton Legend.  He gave exclusive credit to Jack Rafferty for achievements in Hamilton that,  frankly, should be shared by both Mayors.  Without taking away from the legendary status of Jack Rafferty, it would have been "nice" if Rafferty "did the right thing" by reciprocating such "noble sentiments" instead of going on a self promoting tangent and plugging in his party election agenda that left the audience with that an uncomfortable feeling... and giving triple credit to Mayor Gilmore's humility and genuine nature.

One more senseless "faux-pas" came from 3 republican operatives "Larry, Curly and Moe" who stood far outside the Colonial Firehouse carrying signs in a pathetic effort that failed miserably to politicize a "uniting" Hamilton event.  Such intellectually bankrupt activist, ones that are obviously lacking in etiquette and social graces, gave their candidates much to be embarrassed about at the Dinner and gave the rest of the attendees one more reason to glorify and re-elect Mayor Gilmore.
